New sports pavilion at Tambellup

Saskia AdystiGreat Southern Herald

Tambellup residents will soon enjoy their new sports pavilion and bowling green lawn, with the Shire about to get the handover from the building contractors this week.

The $3.6 million project secured the first lot of funding in 2013 and has since received multiple lots of funding from the Federal and State Governments.

The local community is eager to use the new sports pavilion because they were unable to host sporting events in the past 12 months.

Shire president Garry Sheridan said the community had worked hard to secure the funds to get this project off the ground, and has then worked tirelessly to ensure the design meets the community’s expectations.

“We are delighted with the end result, which is a credit to the Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup and the community that we represent,” he said.

The Shire of Broomehil-Tambellup has successfully invited Richard Goyder, a renowned former Tambellup resident to officially open the facilities on Friday, September 1.
