And Australia’s mixed 4x100m relay team have capped off another strong day for the Dolphins by smashing their opposition.
Flynn Southam, Kyle Chalmers, Shayna Jack and Meg Harris set a new Games record with their 3.19.36.
It is the quartet’s second gold medal of the games after they were each part of winning relay teams yesterday.
Williamson’s amazing journey
A box jump mishap left Sam Williamson with a horrific patella tendon injury just over a year ago.
Now, he is a Commonwealth Games gold medal winner.
“Comm Games, four years ago, it was the first team I made,
“After everything that’s happened, all the ups and downs - and I swear to God, there’s been a lot of downs in the last 12 months - just getting up on the blocks tonight is something I’m immensely proud of.
“To come away like that with a gold medal against a world champion, Olympic champion, a world record holder, is something that I’m going to remember for the rest of my life ... it’s just a dream come true and it just goes to prove, if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.”

Sam Williamson has claimed the most remarkable of gold medals in the men’s 100m breaststoke final!
Just over a year after suffering a career-threatening patella tendon injury, he surged home to overcome a tight field and beat one of the stroke’s greatest purveyors, England’s Adam Ramsay-Peaty.
After his 59.17sec, he can hardly wipe the smile off his face.
Zac Stubblety-Cook’s 1:00.20sec was good enough for fifth.
Aussie pair through to 100m breaststroke final
Australia’s Sienna Tuohy and Ella Ramsay have stitched up their places in the women’s 100m breaststroke finals with a pair of strong showings in their semifinal.
Tuohy (1min6.69sec) was just ahead of Ramsay (1:07.47) in second.
Gymnastics gold?
Australia remain in first in the closing stages of the women’s artistic gymnastics team final.
The men’s team won bronze in the event yesterday.
