WA’s newest millionaire has described the moment she realised she had won Wednesday Lotto.

When the Albany woman checked her ticket against the winning numbers and got a match she had a moment of pure poetic justice.

“My husband used to tell me to stop buying Lotto tickets as he thought we would never win,” she said.

“I’ve always worked hard for my money, so for this news I just said, ‘wow!’ and I couldn’t wait to tell him.”

Although the husband admitted to questioning his wife’s persistence, he was happy to be proven wrong.

“I am so happy for her,” he said.

The ticket was bought with a Lotterywest membership online and was one of three Division One winners produced across the nation on Wednesday night, each worth $1 million.

Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said all eyes were now turned to Tuesday’s $50 million OZ Lotto jackpot.

“WA is home to 58 Division One winners for 2021 and we’re hoping after Tuesday’s jackpot, we can add to this number,” Ms Coleman said.

Tickets for OZ Lotto’s $50 million draw can be bought up until 6pm on draw day in-sore, online or via the app.
