Middleton Beach has reopened

Middleton Beach has reopened to the public after a after a tiger shark was detected in the area yesterday.

The City of Albany closed the beach yesterday morning.

The shark was detected 116 times since 2pm on Wednesday by the satellite-linked shark monitoring receiver at Ellen Cove.

It was last detected 9.24pm yesterday.

The Department of Fisheries searched the area this morning with no signs that the shark remained.

According to a statement issued by the City of Albany, it is procedure to close the beach public safety when a shark has been detected in the vicinity.
