Quality Suites — Banksia Gardens, Albany recently won a Hotel of the Year Award for Choice Hotels’ Quality brand.

More than 150 hotels contested the award and Banksia Gardens was crowned the winner during an awards night in Melbourne earlier this month.

Banksia Gardens owners Martin and Ailan North said they were honoured to receive such high recognition from Choice Hotels after the years of hard work they had put into their business.

“One aspect we really focus on is doing the basics right every time — no matter how simple the task, it needs to be done right every time,” Mr North said. “We also conduct regular audits of each area of the business so we all know where we are.”

Mr and Mrs North are also very proud of their hotel’s “likelihood to recommend” score, sitting at 9.5 — the highest score of any Choice hotel in Australasia.

“We are very fortunate to have a fantastic team who take a genuine pride in the business and the most wonderful guests who continue to come back every time,” Mr North said.

“This award is the pinnacle of my 25 years in the hospitality business.”

Banksia Gardens manager Sam Allen, who handles the daily operation of the hotel, said the business had undergone major renovations last year to continue to provide high quality accommodation to its customers.

After winning the national award in the Quality brand category, Banksia Gardens is now ready to take on Choice’s international awards, which will be announced in Las Vegas later this year.
