Dynamic second half sets up colts victory for in-form Kalgoorlie

Kalgoorlie turned in a powerful second half last weekend to defeat Boulder by 68 points, 13.8 (86) to 2.6 (18), in the Goldfields Football League’s colts division.

The Roos’ lead at half-time was five points, but they added 4.2 in the third term and piled on six goals in the run home to secure a fifth win.

Antwon Thompson kicked three goals for Kalgoorlie, complemented by two each from Harley Cullen and Zinzan Clark.

Eric Walter and Hensley Bonney accounted for Boulder’s goals.

It has been an impressive start to the season by Kalgoorlie, who are two games and percentage clear of Mines Rovers in the standings.

Boulder are third with two wins.

Round eight starts on Friday night at Sir Richard Moore Sports Centre when Railways play Boulder at 7.15pm. On Saturday Mines Rovers will host Kalgoorlie at Digger Daws Oval at 10.30am.

In last weekend’s reserves matches, Jason Boyd kicked five goals in Mines Rovers’ win against Kambalda, 23.14 (152) to 3.0 (18).

Malachi Waters and Lewis Johns each bagged five goals in Boulder’s victory over Kalgoorlie, 16.12 (108) to 6.4 (40).
