A 21-year-old man has died after losing control of his car and hitting a tree near Gnowangerup on Sunday morning. The fatal crash marks the third serious crash in as many days in the Great Southern and the second involving a tree. Katanning and Gnowangerup police responded to a triple-0 call at 7.04am after a Holden Commodore ute left the road and hit a tree. The man was travelling east on Broomehill-Gnowangerup Road when he crashed east of Jackitup Road about 7km from Gnowangerup. The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene as a result of his injuries. Gnowangerup ambulance and volunteer fire and rescue services attended the scene. The road was closed from 7.50am and reopened around 3pm. Major crash officers arrived at the scene from Perth at about 1pm and their investigations are ongoing. The crash comes just two days after a woman in her 60s was flown to Royal Perth Hospital and remains in a critical condition after losing control of her car and hitting a tree in Lumeah near Kojonup. Two teenagers were hospitalised on Thursday night after a 17-year-old driver rolled his Toyota LandCruiser while driving in a paddock in Kenmare.
