Alex Riggall and Kat Myburgh dominated A-grade division in open mixed doubles tournament at Kendenup

Kendenup Tennis Club held the second open mixed doubles tournament of the season, with 32 players hitting the court in warm conditions on Sunday.

A very strong field competed in the round-robin event, consisting of eight pairs in two divisions.

Four courts were filled with players coming from Albany, Kojonup and Frankland River alongside local players.

Alex Riggall and Kat Myburgh dominated the A-grade division to walk away victorious over Cindy North and Marcus McPharlin.

Riggall and Myburgh went through the day undefeated and were too strong in the final, winning 6-1 over North and McPharlin.

In the B-grade division, Rebecca Jefferis and Jens Barslund were crowned champions over the pairing of Laura Archer and Chris Wise.

Jefferis and Barslund also went through undefeated and won 37 games throughout the day before claiming the final, 5-3, against Archer and Wise.

Event organiser Vanessa Hillman said it was a strong day of tennis all-round.

“We are thrilled with the turnout for the tournament and very thankful for the ongoing sponsorship from Retravision,” she said.

“It was a great day with lots of great tennis played.”

The tournament was the last event open to non-members for the season run by Kendenup Tennis Club.
