Western Power has completed a $3.7 million project to strengthen networks in the shires of Perenjori and Morawa.
Western Power acting executive manager of asset operations Brett Hovingh said the project prioritised upgrades for old equipment and would reinforce the network, particularly regarding any environmental issues, including bushfires and storms.
During the works, Western Power activated a backup generator to support customers within the Perenjori townsite when possible.
“We replaced 201 poles and 27.7km of power lines, and upgraded equipment including insulators and crossarms,” Mr Hovingh said.
Outages did occur during the upgrades.
“We thank the community for their patience and understanding while these important upgrades were carried out,” he said.
“These upgrades have strengthened the local network and enhanced reliability for customers in Perenjori, Bowgada and Koolanooka by increasing the network’s resilience to severe weather.”
The project was part of Western Power’s $1 billion investment each year to maintain and upgrade the network.
