Urgent recall on dangerous baby biscuits

Gareth ThomasAlbany Advertiser

A British baby snack is being pulled from supermarket shelves after Food Standards Australia and New Zealand identified the biscuits as a potential choking risk.

The recall is for Organix Finger Foods Baby Biscuits which have been available at Coles, Woolworths and some health food stores nationally.

The FSANZ product recall announcement said the baby biscuits, available in vanilla, strawberry and banana flavours, could “crumble into pieces which may pose a potential choking hazard”.

Consumers are being advised not to eat the products and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

In November last year the consumer advocacy publication Choice were critical of the baby biscuits when they reported “the ingredients list largely consists of flour, grape juice concentrate, two types of oil (including palm oil) and strawberry powder.”

“The pack claims the biscuits contain ‘nothing unnecessary’, but you could equally argue they contain nothing necessary.”
