A young and unknown Raiders under 18s women’s team will step onto the court in the new Albany Basketball Association women’s A-grade season.

They managed to win seven games last season but they enter the new season without a single player on their team from last year’s squad.

Every member of the team will be a bottom-aged player.

Coach Darren Berry is optimistic about his side’s chances.

“We don’t have any carry-over players from last year. Everyone will be coming up from the under-16s squad and we will be very young,” he said.

“We have two years together to develop and work as a team, so it’s a fresh start.

“The 16s were really good last year, they won country week but we are looking forward to the challenge ahead of us.”

Berry said Raiders were yet to get the whole squad together.

They have a bye in round one and will face Valkyries in their first game in round two.

Raiders Squad: Jade Dimer, Tayeesha Weeden, Casey Griffiths, Stephen Del Borello, Isabella De Giambattista, Lily Minter, Charlotte Edwards, Valerie Corbett
