North 2 South Executive Homes has been announced as the winner of the 2018 HIA Great Southern Home of the Year.

Taking home six other awards, including framed home of the year and custom built home of the year, their project in Middleton Beach was a stand-out among entries.

Owner Haydn Glendinning said the attention to detail by his team of four was what made their projects winners.

“The judges appreciated how challenging the Middleton Beach build would have been on a sloping site,” he said.

“It is organisation that is the key and my crew are awesome and we all work really well together.

“The building game is a tricky one and is always pretty competitive but if someone is looking for a high-end home and their budget is flexible and they appreciate the time it takes, we are probably targeting those clients.

“But we can do jobs for anyone.”

The house maximises the ocean views and has been designed so that the ocean can be seen from almost every room.

Mr Glendinning started the business with his father in Karratha in 2008 and after gaining his registration in 2013, he took over North 2 South and relocated to Albany in 2015.

The team also took out the coveted excellence in service award (small builder), which is based on client feedback.

Other award winners included WA Country Builders Albany for the golden key award for display home of the year and project home of the year.

Home Group WA Great Southern won affordable housing project of the year, excellence in showroom display and excellence in service — medium builder award. Schlager Homes took home spec home of the year and small lot home of the year, TR Homes won transportable /kit home of the year, The Shack Building Company took home spec home of the year while Ironmonger Building Company won renovation/addition project of the year.

The awards were held at Centennial Stadium last Saturday night.
