Emu Point Red maintained their lead at the top of the ladder after ladies round seven action concluded in the Lower Great Southern Bowling League.

Their away win over Albany Gold 3 (48) to 1 (35) was vital as second-placed Middleton Beach White were also convincing in their victory over Denmark Aqua 3 (47) to 1 (30).

This win for White sees them in second position just one point behind Red at the halfway mark of the season.

Reigning pennant holders Mt Barker Golf continued their disappointing form as they lost against Emu Point Purple 3 (46) to 1 (34) while Albany Green prevailed in a one-shot thriller against Middleton Beach Green 3 (31) to 1 (30).

In the ladies second division both matches provided the winners with maximum points as Mt Barker Golf were dominant in their win over Denmark Orange winning 4 (44) to 0 (34) while top-placed Cranbrook prevailed over Middleton Beach Red 4 (37) to 0 (32).

In round six of the men’s first division there was the first draw of the season, as Emu Point Purple and Middleton Beach Black could not be separated as they produced a thrilling finish to draw 3 (51) to 3 (51).

Middleton Beach Green continued their strong home form with a decisive win over Albany Gold 5 (60) to 1 (47) while Middleton Beach Gold gained an important and valuable away win over ladder leaders Denmark 5 (60) to 1 (52).

Emu Point Red travelled to Mt Barker and again proved their seemingly endless depth, to produce a commanding performance and defeat the home side 5 (66) to 1 (46).

In men’s second division Mt Barker Golf Red consolidated their position at the top of the ladder with a convincing away win over Albany Green 5 (71) to 1 (54) as Albany Grey upset local rivals Albany Brown 5 (62) to 1 (49).

That win has Red holding a 10-point advantage over second placed Green.

Mt Barker Golf White were far too good for Walpole 6 (56) to 0 (42) as Emu Point White travelled to Cranbrook and came away with a hard-fought two shot win 4 (57) to 2 (55).

In the men’s third division Denmark took advantage of leaders Middleton Beach White having the bye to gain ground on them as they defeated Frankland 5 (64) to 1 (48).

Green Range gained the maximum points defeating Mt Barker Golf Blue 6 (78) to 0 (46), while Albany White were far too good for Middleton Beach Lime winning 5 (70) to 1 (46).

In the final game Emu Point Blue kept in touch with the top four as they took care of Mt Barker 5 (67) to 1 (53).
