Plenty of opportunities to reflect, commemorate and remember during Albany Anzac Day 2024
Big crowds are expected at Anzac Day events in Albany once again as visitors join the local community to commemorate those who have served in the armed forces.
Albany’s connection to the Anzac legend and the first dawn service sees it attract visitors from far and wide on April 25 each year.
Dawn Service
Time: 5.30-6.00am
Venue: Desert Mounted Corps Memorial, Mount Clarence
The service is open to the public with no ticketing requirement.
Shuttle buses running at 15-minute intervals from 3.30am will be available to carry people to the service from the Albany Entertainment Centre and the Middleton Beach Bus Port.
The service will also be live-streamed from 5am through to 6am indoors at the Albany Entertainment Centre, and outdoors at the Anzac Peace Park.
Gunfire Breakfast
Time: 6.00-7.45am
Venue: Albany Entertainment Centre
The traditional Anzac Day gunfire breakfast, including coffee with rum similar to what was provided to soldiers before battle, will be provided at the AEC for the cost of a $5 donation to the Albany RSL sub-branch.
Troop March
Time: 10.00-10.30am
Venue: York Street, Albany
Line up on either side of the CBD’s main street to show your appreciation for past and serving defence force personnel.
Commemorative Service
Time: 10.30-11.30am
Venue: Anzac Peace Park
RSL Public Function
Time: From Midday
Venue: Stirling Club
The bar at the Albany RSL sub-branch will be open from midday, with finger food, a door prize and an Anzac Day raffle.
