Paigey’s Turn smashes rivals to claim Ladies Bracelet while Parnham family have plenty of success in Albany

Talented mare Paigey’s Turn scored her second straight win in the Pelicans’ Ladies Bracelet after a brilliant performance at Percy Spencer Racecourse on Sunday. The Sharon Miller-trained mare jumped as an $8 chance in the feature race but was given a terrific run from barrier two by jockey Brad Parnham. Brad Parnham stalked the $2.75 favourite Star In Time to the home corner and then produced a sizzling finish, dashing clear in the final 200m to win by more than five lengths despite carrying 58kg. Oddoneout ($9.50) and Let Her Boogie ($16) finished a distant second and third in the fillies and mares feature race. The race was in the lead-up to Albany’s inaugural Bluff Knoll slot race, with hundreds flocking to Albany Racing Club to witness country WA’s richest race. The win was the second leg of a double for Brad Parnham, who earlier booted home Star Power. Star Power made use of her favourable draw in the Wellington & Reeves Property Management Maiden (1100m), breaking through for the Parnham family. Well supported into $3.50 in the field of nine, jockey Brad Parnham had Star Power in the leading division before pouncing in the home straight to get the better of Sanctions ($4.20) by a head. In a very competitive betting race, Esperance visitor Floppy got up to win the Wellington & Reeves Residential Handicap (1600m). Floppy ran second at his last start and got a lovely run in transit from hoop Steven Parnham to salute at $4.80 after getting the better of Abbou in the concluding stages to win by nearly one length. Albany trainers Roy Rogers, Stephen Sheehy and Steve Wolfe were also successful on the eight-race card, while Bunbury visitor Jolly Odd took out the last race.
