Hopeful Tigers looking towards finals
Finals will be on the agenda for Tigers when they kick off their Albany basketball men’s A-grade campaign on Tuesday night.
Tigers will not have an easy start to the season, facing Knights in the opening round, who have won the last two men’s A-grade titles.
Tigers won the title back in the 2016-17 season but failed to make the final four last season.
Their squad will look much the same as in previous seasons with only the loss of Jacob Hobbs, but they have added Danial Abbot to the team.
Captain Tim Button expects his side to improve this season.
“I’m expecting us to go well this season. We have lost Jacob Hobbs but have gained the services of Danial Abbot so we should be up there again,” he said.
“We are hoping to win a fair few games and go deep into finals.”
“We have less height this year but a lot more flexibility.”
Injuries and missing players let Tigers down last time around.
“I thought we were close last season but injuries and missing players hurt us,” he said.
Tigers will be looking to experienced trio John Santia, Dean Gliosca and Corey Hill to lead them back to finals.
Tigers squad: Danial Abbott, Tim Button, Kevin Fontana, Dean Gliosca, Corey Hill, Bodhi Holmes, John Santia, Corey Ward
