Green light for Denmark club upgrades

The Shire of Denmark has approved a $400,000 funding to Denmark Surf Life Saving Club for its new club transformation project during its ordinary council meeting last Tuesday.
The club has also submitted a $1,405,500 funding application to Lotterywest and a $2,355,500 funding bid to the Building Better Regions Fund.
The proposal to upgrade the club facility was presented to the Shire of Denmark council in September.
The transformation project has been endorsed by the Shire and the proposal has also been forwarded to the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries in September.
The design includes a tiered, grassed public open space and a new two-storey building with rooftop facilities to replace the existing two-storey clubhouse.
Denmark SLSC president Jane Kelsbie said the new building would improve the club’s facility and improve emergency response teams.
“It’s exciting to have formal Shire support, among others, and to now get cracking with seeking funding,” she said.
