Great Southern hits 171 active COVID-19 cases with new exposure sites in Bremer Bay, Denmark, Albany
The Great Southern recorded 29 new local COVID-19 cases on Monday pushing the region’s active case load to 171.
WA recorded 4037 new local cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on Sunday with 25,775 active cases across the State.
There were 109 people with COVID-19 in hospital on Monday, a decrease from 122 the previous day.
The number of patients in intensive care with COVID-19 also decreased from five to one.
It comes after WA Health confirmed on Saturday that a woman in her 80s had died after testing positive for COVID-19.
She is the fourth West Australian to have died in the Omicron wave this year and was the second death reported last week after a woman in her 40s was revealed to have died with COVID last Monday.
The Great Southern recorded 35 new cases on Saturday and 18 on Sunday.
As of Monday midday, there were 19 exposure sites listed on the Healthy WA website across Walpole, Denmark, Albany, Mount Barker and Bremer Bay.
New exposure sites listed over the weekend include Albany Indian Tandoori restaurant, Hybla Tavern, Denmark’s Boston Brewing Co, The Dam restaurant and Denmark Dinosaur World which were visited by a confirmed COVID-19 case at various times from Saturday, March 5, to Monday, March 7.
There are four exposure sites listed in Bremer Bay from Friday, March 4, to Monday, March 7, these include The Telegraph on Bremer Cafe, Bremer Bay Resort, Bremer Bay Caravan Park and Bremer Bay Brewing Company.
