Exciting Dynabelle resumes in Albany
Exciting mare Dynabelle will return from a short spell to tackle a strong field in tomorrow’s The Nightshift With Luke Bona Handicap (1100m) at Percy Spencer Racecourse in the penultimate meeting of the Great Southern season.
Dynabelle was an impressive maiden winner in Pinjarra at his second start in December last year before scoring a second victory, settling back in the field before rocketing home to win by 1 ¼ lengths over 1100m in Albany back on January 13.
Myalup trainer Michael Campbell spelled his promising galloper after her Albany win and the pair return tomorrow chasing a third triumph in five career starts.
The four-year-old mare last month had a solid 950m barrier trial, where she finished third behind Cash On Call, and Campbell expects a forward showing upon resuming.
“Everything seems good with her and we’ll just play it by ear to see where she goes,” he said.
“I think she will appreciate the softer going and she has won at the track and distance before, so there is no harm in going back.
“I hope she can go well, her trial was OK, satisfactory for a trial.”
Jockey Lucy Warwick will ride Dynabelle, which jumps from barrier two with 58.5kg on her back in the even field of nine runners.
Double Edged has been in great recent form for Gordon Keay and has top apprentice Brodie Kirby engaged from gate three while impressive maiden winner Athlone Castle is also drawn ideally in his step up in class with rider Peter Hall aboard.
Waychinicup, prepared by local trainer Paul Hunter, drops back in class having previously won twice over 1100m while Steve Wolfe has Faulty and the resuming Truly Rare entered. The first of seven races tomorrow starts at 12.55pm.
