Great Southern gun Isaac Baum and Peel rising star Tye Kemp have claimed the major individual honours at the Nutrien Ag Solutions Men’s Country Championships.
Baum claimed the prestigious Jock Coleman Medal as the player judged fairest and best in division one at the annual championships.
The Albany midfield-forward had a huge impact as his side made a bold entry back to the top flight, winning two games and almost knocking over powerhouse outfit South West on their way to a third-place finish.
Baum, who hails from Boxwood Hill, spent three years in the WAFL with Claremont but now calls the Sharks in Albany home.
The 30-year-old captained the Great Southern side and was brilliant up forward with five goals while spending time in the midfield and won plenty of vital clearances.
He was also one of two Great Southern players named in the championship all-stars, with outstanding defender Bodhi Stubber deservedly being recognised.
Kemp was the star of the show in Peel’s division one grand final triumph, the young gun receiving the Nutrien Ag Solutions Medal after his best-afield efforts in the 33-point result.
The 20-year-old also claimed the rising star award for the entire championships, his outstanding performance as a young ruckman being recognised.
Originally from Brookton-Pingelly, Kemp played colts for Peel Thunder in 2024 and now is starring for Halls Head.
Peel had five representatives in the all-stars, Kemp among four players selected.
Riley Mitchell, Jye Clark and Ryan Bennell were also picked as all-stars along with championship-winning coach Ryan Henley.
Division one grand final runners-up South West had Liam Creighton, Caleb Stephens and Jack Fletcher selected.
Other division one players recognised were Traye Bennell (Avon) and Callum Johnson (Goldfields).
Division two champs Central Midlands Coastal had three players — Robert Warrell, Jason Gilbee and Josh Harris.
Eastern Districts and North Pilbara in division two and three respectively had multiple all-stars, with Tom Baldwin and Eli Alexander named for Eastern Districts and Ryan Newick and Jedd White earning the honour for North Pilbara.
Ongerup talent Timm House won the Bud Byfield Medal as the division two fairest and best player and also was named an all-star.
Hills star Denver Roberts was an all-star and claimed the division three top honour, the Jock Beattie Medal.
Henley won the Dick Smith memorial award as coach of the championships.
The JJ Lussick award for field umpire of the championships went to South West’s Talen Gutherie.
Other umpiring awards were won by South West’s Jason Morrow (goal umpire of the championships), Great Northern’s Zade Colley (boundary umpire of the championships) and South West’s Daniella Schoeman (Peter Troode umpire development award).
