Charge laid over breath test refusal after single vehicle crash near Bow Bridge

Denmark police have charged a 33-year-old man with failing to provide a breath test after a crash near Bow Bridge on Sunday afternoon. About 1pm, emergency services were called to a single-vehicle crash on Kent River Siding Road, about 35km west of Denmark. Police said the car was travelling in a southerly direction when it failed to negotiate a bend, leaving the road and coming to a stop down a small embankment. A man was found at the scene a short time later, unable to get out of the car. Denmark Volunteer Fire and Rescue firefighters helped the man out of the car before he was treated by St John Ambulance officers. Denmark officer-in-charge Sgt Matt Hartfield said the man refused to supply a breath test when requested. “On police arrival he was immediately obstructive and refused to supply any sort of breath test to police,” Sgt Hartfield said. “He was then arrested and offered another test at the Denmark hospital and he again refused.” Police have charged the man with refusing a breath test. He is due to face Albany Magistrate’s Court on March 11.
