In very changeable conditions round 11 of the Albany Junior Soccer Association took place last Saturday.

Battling hard against the elements were Polonia White and the Great Southern Griffins in the under-14s competition.

Only two points separated the teams from second to fifth on the table but it was clear that the Griffins showed more endeavour in the bitter cold.

Five goals in the first half secured the match and a further three after the break gave the Griffins the valuable three points after the 8-0 win.

Top-of-the-table Polonia Red played second-placed Denmark in a game that Denmark would have been hoping to win to narrow the gap at the top.

Denmark struggled to get going in the weather and Polonia seized their opportunity running away with the match 9-0.

John Calvin were able to keep the Rovers at bay for the first 20 minutes of their contest but were eventually broken by a Stella Gordon goal.

Moments later the Rovers got their second to ensure they had a 2-0 half-time lead.

At the start of the second half John Calvin had a couple of chances but were unable to convert and went down 4-0 at full-time.

In the final 14s game Albany Bayswater were too strong for the Stirling Rangers running away 13-0 winners.

In the under-18s Albany Bayswater cemented their position at the top of the table with an 8-0 win over Rovers Gold and Polonia kept Bayswater in their sights in the title race with a hard-fought victory over Rovers Black.

The Stirling Rangers were able to scrape past Griffins 5-4 in the final 18s match.
