All three LGSBL men’s pennant titles won by Emu Point after grand final day domination

Emu Point have had a clean sweep of the Lower Great Southern Bowling League, winning all three men’s pennant titles on Sunday.

The semifinals and preliminary finals were played on Saturday before grand finals were contested on Sunday to decider overall champions.

Emu Point took home all three pennant titles on offer, claiming the top division while their club also snared the spoils in division two and three.

In first division Emu Point Red defeated Albany Gold, 67-54 in the semifinals to directly progress to the grand final.

Middleton Beach Gold knocked out Denmark and then met Albany Gold in the preliminary final later that day.

The preliminary final was won by Middleton Beach Gold and that set up a title decider with Emu Point Red.

Emu Point Red were too strong, however, as they clinched the top pennant title with a 63-59 victory.

In second division Emu Point Purple had to do it the hard way, losing 56-68 in Saturday’s semifinal to Mt Barker Golf Red.

That forced them into a preliminary final against Mt Barker Golf White, who accounted for Albany Brown in the knockout semifinal 63-55.

Emu Point Purple prevailed in the preliminary final 61-55 to get a shot at redemption against Mt Barker Golf.

In the grand final Emu Point Purple performed strongly to win easily in the end, downing their rivals 64-49.

Emu Point White made it a club clean sweep when they won the third division pennant title.

They were semifinal winners over Middleton Beach Lime 66-57 while Middleton Beach White had a 75-48 win against Denmark in the other semifinal.

Emu Point White were too strong in the decider, beating Middleton Beach White 67-54.
