Alexander James Masson disqualified from driving for 14 months after drunken Albany Highway crash

A 30-year-old Mt Barker man has been banned from driving for 14 months for blowing 0.122 after a crash on Albany Highway. Alexander James Masson faced Albany Magistrates Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to excess 0.08. Masson was driving a Toyota LandCruiser along Albany Highway in McKail about 3.35pm on Friday, September 9, when he crashed head-on into a ute. The occupants of the ute, two men in their 50s, were taken to hospital but they were not seriously injured. Their ute sustained extensive front-end damage in the crash, which closed Albany Highway in both directions near Salisbury Road. Masson was put in the back of a police vehicle at the scene and issued with an immediate driver’s licence disqualification notice. In court on Tuesday, he was fined $2000 and had his licence disqualified for 14 months.
