Albany Light Opera is hosting a musical quiz night on February 24 to raise funds for new technical theatre equipment for the community theatre’s future shows.

Musical theatre-themed, the Spicks and Specks-style quiz will feature questions about beloved musicals such as Mamma Mia, Blood Brothers, Mary Poppins, and more.

Quiz-goers are encouraged to dress up as a musical character for the night.

Prizes will be handed out on the night for the best and silliest answers.

Quiz and technical co-ordinator Fiona Kuiper said the theatre had undergone important safety and structural upgrades in 2023 that were very “costly”.

“Our fundraising is to complete the significant sound system upgrade we started in 2023 and investing in some additional tech to elevate our scenic design,” she said.

“It’s a fairly significant investment in really new technology that should see the theatre through the next 10 to 15 years.

“Not only will we get to do better shows for our audiences but our members get to develop skills in technologies they might not normally have access to, particularly when you’re an amateur theatre.”

Tickets are available at Paperbark.
