Thousands of people placed their bets and celebrated the Melbourne Cup in Perth, with Ascot Racecourse and Crown just some of the hottest venues in town to catch the race.

Almost 11,000 racegoers descended on Ascot Racecourse for Perth’s biggest trackside Melbourne Cup celebration, where they enjoyed a spectacular day of fashion, racing, fine food and champagne across 40 restaurants and bars, including the newly opened Tote Exchange Bar and Lounge.

While all eyes were on WA jockeys Willie Pike, Mark Zahra and Damian Lane in the race that stops the nation, it was Point of Law, ridden by Ethan Brown, who claimed the 2026 Melbourne Cup.

Back at Ascot, live racing delivered plenty of excitement, headlined by the Listed Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m), as anticipation builds for The Pinnacles carnival later this month.

Among the familiar faces celebrating trackside were WAFL personality Zach Mainwaring, Xavier Ellis, models Teagan Headly, Cara Mooney and Georgia Vanzaanen, alongside influencers Ryan Sudintas, Ben Roberts of Crafternoons, Paul Antoine, Billy Belcher and Awhina Rutene.

Celebrations were in full swing at Crown Perth, with racegoers turning out for a day of champagne, dining and entertainment across the resort.

Nobu was among the hotspots, with guests settling in for a four-course sharing menu, Veuve Clicquot and live entertainment from DJ Aslan, while Gladstones hosted a more intimate, invitation-only affair for a crowd of media, sporting, business and community guests.
