Minogue also posted the snap on Instagram, and several of her fellow celebrities piled in to send their well wishes.

Former Neighbours co-star Jason Donovan - with whom she released the smash hit Especially For You in 1989 - wrote: "Happy birthday @kylieminogue!" and emblazoned his post with a heart-eyes emoji.

Heiress Paris Hilton said: "Happy Birthday Queen!", whilst Torn singer Natalie Imbruglia, radio host Zoe Ball and comedian Lews Denny also wrote sweet messages in the comments section.

The Can't Get You Out Of My Head hitmaker started her career as a child when she accompanied Dannii, 52, to an audition for The Sullivans but she actually landed the small part of Dutch girl Carla on the Aussie period drama because her sister was too young.

But her big break came in 1986 when she was cast as Charlene Robinson in Neighbours and famously had a relationship with Jason Donovan, who played her on-screen boyfriend - and then husband - Scott Mitchell.

During her time on the soap opera, Minogue recorded a cover of the Little Eva track Loco-Motion and then left the program to focus on her burgeoning music career which saw her sign to the industry giants Stock Aitken Waterman and release I Should Be So Lucky in 1987.

Since then, Minogue has released 16 studio albums and is the only female artist to top the album chart in five different decades.
