Queenstown resort close to snow, with views over Shotover River

Coronet Ridge Resort has reopened in Queenstown, on New Zealand’s South Island, after a multimillion-dollar luxury redevelopment.
At Arthurs Point, the resort is less than 10 minutes’ drive from the Coronet Peak Ski Area — and the same to the centre of Queenstown.
ROOMS
Each of its 41 rooms and suites has a private balcony or patio with a mountain view.
Interiors mix warm, natural tones and bespoke timber joinery with local art and photography.
Rooms range from 37sqm Alpine View and Shotover River View rooms (with three accessible rooms), to 62sqm and 70sqm Shotover Suites to a 70sqm two-bedroom Coronet Suite.
Entry-level room rates start from $835 a night including breakfast.
DINING
Elevation Bar and Restaurant has views of the Wakatipu Basin, The Remarkables mountain range and the Shotover River below.
It uses locally sourced ingredients and executive chef Dominic Dsouza’s menu is seasonally inspired.
Guests can dine outside on the terrace or watch culinary and cocktail theatrics in the open kitchen and bar.
AMENITIES
The resort has a Roman-inspired day spa, outdoor hot tubs, fitness centre, squash courts, and a private cinema.
Signature day spa treatments include the three-hour head-to-toe “The Ridge Journey”, with full-body exfoliation, hydrating body wrap, a 75-minute full-body massage and facial using New Zealand made botanical and organic skincare products.
