Imagining the Sordevolo Passion Play into reality

Italy’s spectacular Sordevolo Passion Play is staged every five years.

And Imagine Cruising has built a trip around it called Unforgettable Italy: Sordevolo Passion Play and Italian Lakes Trio.

PASSION PLAY

The Sordevolo Passion Play dates back to 1816, and the production is staged by hundreds of men, women and children in the village of Sordevolo.

It brings to life the final hours of Jesus Christ in a visually striking performance. There are elaborate sets and costumes.

Forty performances of the play are presented in an open-air amphitheatre in the foothills of the Italian Alps.

THE HOLIDAY

Imagine Cruising’s 23-night itinerary is from $9999 per person. That includes touring, cruise and flights — but the play remains at its heart.

Departures are available in July and September 2027.

It includes the 14-night full-board cruise on Queen Elizabeth, attending the play, tours, a scenic rail journey through the Italian and Swiss alps on the Centovalli Railway journey, all hotel accommodation, flights, taxes and transfers.

There are two nights at the four-star Biella near Sordevolo at Agora Palace Hotel, with breakfast and dinner. There are four nights at Lake Maggiore at the Hotel Regina Palace Stresa and a night in Verona at Hotel Indigo Verona — Grand Hotel Des Arts. All include breakfast.
