West Coast’s WAFL recruiting spree has continued, with the Eagles boosting their forward and ruck stocks by adding a pair of exciting teenage prospects.

Brisbane Lions Academy product Isaac Waller and Dandenong Stingrays forward Mitch Toner have made the move out west following impressive seasons for their state sides.

Waller has been a part of the Lions Academy since he was 12, spending the past two years in the VFL and representing the Allies at the 2025 National Championships.

The 19-year-old has been noted for his mobility despite his 204cm frame while still possessing strong ruck and aerial ability; Eagles WAFL boss Steve Trewhella said he would be a major boost to their ruck stocks.

“Isaac has terrific athleticism and a competitive nature to his game, and we are excited to have secured his signature for the 2027 season,” he said.

“His move west will bolster our ruck stocks, and we are excited to see what he can bring to the WAFL competition in 2027.”

18-year-old Toner was part of the Stingrays’ run into the Talent League Grand Final, where he kicked 37 goals from 18 games including two in the decider.

The 186cm forward has been noted for his strength in one-on-one battles while he is also a strong marking presence inside 50.

“Mitch’s defining physical attributes of strength, power and competitiveness will add toughness and excitement to the team in 2027,” Trewhella said.

“Our recruiting strategy has been about identifying players who not only have the talent to improve our team, but also have the character, competitiveness and appetite to get better.

“We believe Isaac and Mitch fit that profile really well, and we’re excited to see what they can achieve in our environment.”
