South Fremantle product Matthew Parker has signed on with Richmond for 2022.

The 25-year-old was picked up by the Tigers in the mid-season draft and played the final six matches of the home and away season for the then-reigning premiers.

Parker averaged 13 disposals in his second crack at AFL level, after a short stint with St Kilda - where he played 19 games over two seasons before the Saints delisted him at the end of 2020.

Richmond’s General Manager of Football Talent, Blair Hartley, said Parker thoroughly deserved the one-year extension.

“Matt did not put a foot wrong after he joined us mid-year, as demonstrated by his quick elevation to the senior team,” he said.

“We are excited to be able to keep him around for 2022 and look forward to seeing a lot more of him in Richmond colours.

“It is a credit to the work he has done behind the scenes to get himself back in a position to tackle a full AFL season ahead.”

It follows fellow WA products Sydney Stack and Ben Miller re-signing with the club for next season.
