Premier Mark McGowan salutes West Australians as Dreamtime game approaches, backs Richmond

The West Australian
VideoAFL: The Melbourne Demons have overcome a 20 point deficit to beat the Brisbane Lions and remain in top spot after round 12.

WA Premier Mark McGowan is backing the premiers.

McGowan has backed Richmond to win tonight’s sellout Dreamtime in Perth between the Tigers and Essendon at Optus Stadium.

“It’s an excellent night and it showcases the best of Western Australian generosity, compassion and selflessness and so many worthy recipients are here this evening. It’s amazing in a world full of COVID we can celebrate events like this,” the Premier said.

“You wouldn’t do this in Melbourne, but here you can do these sorts of events and have a great weekend of celebrations and fun.

“We can also have a range of people coming together tonight to acknowledge other west Australians who have done a great job over the course of year.”

“The big Dreamtime match will be great. I’m going to do the long walk and watch the game and I’m really excited by the interest. I think it’s a couple of things; one it’s people wanting to show their support to aboriginal Australians, and two it’s obviously a bit different — it’s two new teams that we will see play, because we usually see our two teams play. It’s a different experience. I’m going for Richmond.”

More to come.
