Round of one-sided contests as Newdegate and Gnowangerup power to big wins in Ongerup Football Association

Newdegate thumped Jerramungup by 121 points at Jerramungup on Saturday to notch their first win of the Ongerup Football Association season.

The Lions kicked a staggering 11 goals in the final quarter, putting the Eagles to the sword in a one-sided contest.

The visitors dominated the match from the outset, kicking seven goals in the first quarter and four in the second term as the home side trailed by 47 points at the main break.

The Eagles hit back with a goal in the third quarter but the Lions refused to let up, piling on four more goals before the final change.

The home side had their highest scoring quarter in the final term kicking three goals but the Lions finished the game full of running as they booted 11 goals to seal their victory, 26.18 (174) to 8.5 (53).

Arron Russell booted six goals and Clint Westlake kicked five majors while Nelson Kent (four goals), Tristan Ballard (two), Ian Lloyd (two), Michael Hams (two) and Dylan Brooks (two) were the other multiple goal kickers.

Jarrad Offer, Brooks and Hams were all terrific for the winners.

The Eagles were best served by Wade Brown, Thomas Hicks and Jayden Brooks, while Brendan Lee finished with four majors.

In the other league fixture it was another one-sided affair as defending premiers Gnowangerup ran out 83-point winners at home against Boxwood Hill.

Bulldogs forward Lewis Davis was a man possessed, dominating in the forward line to finish with 11 goals.

Tyler Caldwell kicked two goals in the thrashing as Davis, Damien Stewart and Fraser House were all highly-influential for the Bulldogs who are undefeated in the opening two rounds.

Edward Moir, Nicholas Bertola and Brett Plane were among the best players for Boxwood.
