Albany ruckman Kieran Gowdie shines for Claremont’s league side in victory over South Fremantle
Albany junior Kieran Gowdie has impressed in his second league game for Claremont, playing an important role in their 11-point win against South Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday.
Gowdie made his league debut in round two last week, impressing coach Ashley Prescott and he retained his place in the Tigers league side that faced the Bulldogs.
The talented ruckman finished with 22 hit-outs, 10 disposals, eight tackles and kicked a goal in a terrific league display for the second week straight.
Railways defender Jacob Blight finished with 12 disposals, while the Gnowangerup forward Timm House had eight disposals and kicked a goal.
Captain Declan Mountford played an influential role throughout the contest, chipping in with 16 disposals and two inside-50s as the Tigers produced a gritty win, 10.10 (70) to 8.11 (59).
Royals tall Tom Edwards also had an outstanding day for Swan Districts in their 12.6 (78) to 10.13 (73) win over Perth at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday.
Edwards kicked three goals in their hard-fought victory and was named among the best players on the day.
In the Tigers reserves, Tyron Smallwood (Royals and Albany) and Tom Baldwin (Royals and Jerramungup) dominated the contest, finishing with 26 and 24 disposals respectively.
Both players were extremely damaging, pounding the Sharks defence with three inside-50s each for the game and both were named in the Tigers’ best.
Alex Pearce had 22 disposals to his name and was superb all day while Coen Jackman fought fiercely during the contest, leading the tackle count with eight in the 13.12 (90) to 1.2 (8) thrashing.
In the colts, Railways youngster Toby Hall booted one major to go with 16 disposals and three inside-50s as he was named among the best players for the Tigers.
Heath Ravenhill finished with 10 disposals and five tackles, while Rhori Williams-Jolley had 15 disposals and three inside-50s in the 13.9 (87) to 7.15 (57) loss.
