They may have narrowly missed out on second place, but Perth Scorchers captain Sophie Devine says playing in front of a home crowd in their first final on Tuesday night will be a boost for her side.

The Scorchers secured hosting rights with a victory over the Brisbane Heat on Saturday, which also confirmed their finals berth.

They could have even finished second before Sydney Sixers survived a final-ball thriller against Adelaide Strikers on Sunday morning to seal hosting rights for The Challenger.

However, Devine said playing any final in Perth would be a major advantage for the Scorchers. They take on Meg Lanning’s Melbourne Stars on Tuesday evening.

“I think we have nothing to lose now,” she said.

“Finals series, it’s all about one game at a time, so we’re really excited, and to start at home gives us a big advantage.

“It would have been nice to finish second, but we are so excited to be able to host a final here at the WACA. It’s something that we love doing.

“We’ve had the best crowds all year and the best fans. The group are really excited and has been trending in the right direction in the last couple of weeks.”

Melbourne bring plenty of star power to Tuesday’s Knockout final.

However, Devine assured they would receive a hostile reception from the team and their fans.

“Getting (Meg Lanning) out early is obviously a good idea. She’s scored plenty of runs this season,” she said.

“They’ve got some real talent. I think Annabel Sutherland has been leading that side extremely well.

“Rhys McKenna and Jess Flintoff as well, and then they’ve also got a couple of their overseas players, who are going to be a real threat.

“We certainly want to bring a little hostility towards those Melbourne Stars coming across.

“But I think the real positive we can take out of it is we’re starting to build momentum, and that we get to play at home. These are conditions we know really well, so we’ll hopefully really look to exploit that.”
