WAFL: Former Collingwood defender Charlie Dean signs two-year deal for Perth Demons

Perth have bolstered their backline by signing former Collingwood defender Charlie Dean on a two-year deal. The West Australian can reveal Dean has decided on a move to the Demons having fielded offers from several clubs including his original club Williamstown. Dean played 12 games for the Magpies after being taken as a rookie in 2021 and was delisted by the Magpies at the end of this year, having played four games in 2025. The 24-year-old is the latest signing for Perth who have added former Sydney wingman Indhi Kirk — the son of Swans champion Brett — as well as Fred Brayshaw and Weirribee’s Archer Gardiner. Perth are looking to build on a strong first season under coach Mark Stone which had them win their first final since 1997 when they beat East Fremantle in the elimination final before falling short to Claremont a week later. Dean joins the likes of Sandover medallist and co-captain Charlie Constable as well as fellow ex-Geelong listed footballers Brandan Parfitt and Blake Schlensog at Mineral Resources Park. Perth have lost several players with Sam Simpson returning to Victoria, while Tyrone Thorne, Brodie Gray, Jack Poole and Jed Kemp have also left the club. Meanwhile, former West Coast next generation academy ruckman Coen Livingstone has signed on to play with West Perth. Livingstone didn’t play a game for the Eagles in two years on their list and decided not to return to the Demons where he played 19 colts games. The 20-year-old will instead head to the Falcons who have also had a big off-season, signing several recruits including welcoming back midfielder Connor West and defender Noah Pegoraro.
