Jay-Z has been announced as the Super Bowl LXI halftime performer when the mega-sporting event takes place in Los Angeles in 2027.
The 56-year-old rapper confirmed that he would headline the show on February 14 at SoFi Stadium, which his company Roc Nation has been responsible for choosing since 2019.
“From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey,” Jay-Z said in a statement.
“Thirty years of music, work and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”
The confirmation comes a week after Puck News reported that Jay-Z had decided to take the gig himself after a long period of determining who would follow Bad Bunny and Kendrick Lamar.
Since 2019, the icon — born Shawn Carter — has been a crucial figure in the decision-making process of the halftime show through Roc Nation’s ongoing co-production partnership with the NFL.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell praised Jay-Z’s impact on the league and celebrated the announcement in a separate statement.

“For several years, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with Jay-Z and Roc Nation, and I’ve seen the extraordinary impact he has had on the Super Bowl halftime show,” he said.
“When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him.”
It comes after Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Harry Styles were rumoured to perform.
Jay-Z’s performance will come off the back of a massive year celebrating the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and the 25th anniversary of his 2001 LP, The Blueprint.
Jay-Z has been married to Beyonce for more than 18 years after they got together in 2001.
They share daughter Blue Ivy Carter and twins Rumi and Sir Carter.
