Steven Parnham’s return from a broken collarbone could be delayed, with the four-time Group 1-winning hoop set to learn his fate on Tuesday.

Parnham is still experiencing discomfort in his collarbone broken in a fall at Ascot on March 31, prompting him to undergo another CT scan and consult with his doctor and surgeon.

The 36-year-old is willing to push through the pain barrier to ride Platoon in the Group 3 Belmont Sprint (1400m) on Saturday, but doesn’t want to risk further damage.

“I’m not satisfied with it at the moment,” Parnham said.

“I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve had multiple fractures to the same collarbone. I really want to see a good picture from the scan results and get some confidence from the doctor and surgeon.

“I’ve been doing a lot of strength work and physio to try get it right.

“I’d say I’m 50-50 to ride next Saturday. I can push through a bit of pain but I don’t want to come back and compromise it.”

Platoon will make his return in the Belmont Sprint for Parnham’s trainer father Neville.

Meanwhile, trainer Simon Miller said a post-race scope on It’sarayday revealed mucus in his trachea after his shock defeat at Belmont Park on Saturday.

The boom three-year-old ran 10th to Rokanori as the $2.10 favourite and was also mildly lame.

“He’s sound now but he had mucus down his trachea,” Miller said.

“Hardly Ever also had mucus down her trachea.”

Hardly Ever was a beaten $1.80 favourite on Saturday, running third to Sniparoochy over 1200m.

It wasn’t all bad news for Miller after Above The Peg notched his third straight win in a 1400m handicap on Saturday.

The half-brother to Group 1 winner Portland Sky will be set for the Listed Raconteur Stakes (1400m) on Saturday week.

A power outage forced officials to abandon Sunday’s Kalgoorlie meeting.

Trials scheduled for Belmont Park on Monday have been postponed until Friday because of the forecast of heavy rain.
