Highly-anticipated works have finally begun as ground broke at Fremantle Public Golf Course earlier this week, making way for a new $22 million golf venue.
LaunchPad Golf is set to deliver a premium golfing experience in Fremantle with a multi-story driving range alongside the public track.
The latest in a wave of hubs looking to attract both the traditional and casual golfer, it will offer interactive driving range technology along with food and drink hospitality to keep all audiences engaged.
Along with the main venue, works will also deliver upgraded amenities, a cafe and a new pro shop to the already popular spot.
Local fans of the public course need not to worry, as the city promised the nine-hole track will remain open throughout construction.
Fremantle mayor Ben Lawver said he was keen to have a whack once construction was complete.
“I’m also excited about ensuring that participation and usage of this new facility is safe and affordable, while also remaining inclusive to members of the public,” he said.
While LaunchPad Golf Fremantle managing director Scott Gunson said they aim to make the entertainment venue an annual attraction.
“This isn’t just about building a venue, it’s about creating a place people come back to regularly,” he said.
“A place that adds energy to the precinct and gives locals something they can genuinely connect with.”
This site is the latest in Perth’s growing list of off-course golf hubs, with millions of dollars being invested into turning public golf courses into tourist destinations.
