Fremantle’s ‘Prancing Pony’ has gone global, with Pat Voss’ epic fend-off and goal from the preliminary final making it onto SportsCenter’s famous top-10 plays countdown.
Voss had a difficult first three quarters against Sydney at the SCG, but made his moment count in the fourth with the pivotal highlight play.
The popular forward gave a ‘don’t argue’ to the top of Rampe’s chest before finishing with a banana deep in the pocket in the midst of the Dockers’ crazy comeback.
The play didn’t escape the eyes of those putting together the nightly countdown for SportsCenter, ESPN’s flagship show that draws a massive audience in the US.
“Patrick Voss gets the ball and stiff-arms the defender to score,” the anchor said while the vision was rolling.
“Excuse me!” the other anchor replied as the replay was shown.
It’s not the first time a WA-based athlete has torched a Sydney-based rival to make the SportsCenter countdown.
Former Perth Wildcat Bryce Cotton made the list in 2019 with an ankle-breaking crossover that sent Sydney Kings guard Jerome Randle falling to the ground before draining a triple.
