Western Australia will be represented in the 2021/22 Nutri-Grain Ironman Series after former Mullaloo athlete Wes Gould secured his place in the coveted surf lifesaving summer spectacle.

After receiving a wild card entry into the 2020/21 Nutri-Grain series, Gould finished 11th on debut, falling just short of automatic requalification.

Forced to earn his spot back in the series, Gould entered day two of the trial event ranked 18th with the top 20 progressing into finals.

But a second-place finish in race one and his progressive points score were enough to see the now Kurrawa ironman outlast close to 150 competitors and snap up one of seven spots on offer.
