Perth Demons president Adrian Baric has described the emotions running through the club as Perth paid tribute to Dakota Baldwin-Wright on this week’s Quarters & Barra’s podcast.

The Demons star ruckman lost his life in a tragic train incident while on holiday in Europe at the age of just 25.

Perth wore black armbands in honour of their fallen mate as the Demons scored an emotionally charged win over Subiaco as the club retired his No.19 jumper.

His guernsey was placed in the centre of the team circle as his former teammates and family led a rousing rendition of the club song.

Barra said it was “the most powerful, emotional thing I’ve ever been associated with at the Perth footy club.”

“It was one of the great days in the club’s history, we haven’t beaten Subiaco in eight years and every grade won across the weekend,” he said.

“I’ve been in these scenarios a few times but it was a massive build-up for us.

“I was so glad we were able to show how much we loved the guy and how much he meant to us.

“To see how touched his mum, to see for a moment his mum and parents got some solace from that, I’m getting emotional just thinking about it.”
