A Perth teacher is making waves online after a bold Dockers prediction she made back in 2015 resurfaced following Fremantle’s win over Sydney Swans on Friday.
Freo fanatic Eden Fletcher took to social media to re-share an image she’d posted over a decade ago — a selfie with a sign she’d written foreshadowing Dockers would secure the flag in 2026.
The 40-year-old explained her family booked flights to Melbourne early in the 2015 season, having full faith the team would it all the way. However, Hawthorn knocked out Dockers in the prelims, with the Hawks taking on rival West Coast Eagles in the Grand Final.
Despite the fan’s anguish of missing out, the mother-of-two decided to make the best out of the situation and went on to travel to the Victorian city, where her Freo die-hard family were also due to arrive.
“I went to pick up my parents knowing they would be surrounded by Eagles fans, dressed in head-to-toe purple,” she told PerthNow.
“Knowing they’d probably be the only Dockers supporters on the plane, I decided to make myself easy to find and put on my Dockers gear, sat outside the arrivals gate with a sign that said: ‘FREO PREMIERS 2026?!’
“I picked a ridiculously obscure date way into the future and thought the Eagles fans might get a laugh out of a lone Dockers supporter sitting on the floor there making a completely unfounded prediction.”
Doubling-down on her previous prediction, the Perth teacher believes this is the year for ‘purple reign’.
“I am convinced that this is it. I’ve brought this picture back out and gone, holy s*** I said 2026, so put the house on a Docker’s fan, Freo premiers 2026 is happening!
She even put her psychic abilities to the test again, predicting Dockers will win by five points.
“Fremantle are going to win 74 – 69. It’s going to be a tight game, we’re going to have a heart attack, but we’re going to win.”
Having been unable to score tickets to see her beloved team try to win their first Premiership, the Freo local says she’s looking forward to watching her team battle for the trophy “with the collective purple” this Saturday.
“I think it’s going to be a lot of fun being with all the fans for what is sure to be a really historic moment.”
Ms Fletcher is one of up to 40,000 football fans expected to descend onto the Harbour town this weekend to to take in the Dockers’ shot at grand final glory in the club’s heartland.
There were incredible street scenes after Friday’s preliminary final victory as thousands of footy fans poured onto the streets – a sure feat that’s bound to be repeated if the Fremantle Dockers succeed in their Premiership bid.
