AFL grand final: How Melbourne Demons fans, celebs celebrated drought-breaking win

It’s been 57 long years since Melbourne last held up the premiership cup and fans showed their DEE-light after the drought was broken at Optus Stadium last night.

61,118 footy fans witnessed the Demons premiership win and the euphoria spilled out onto the street, with the famous red and blue song reverberating around Perth.

The Burswood peninsula was a sea of Melbourne fans soaking up the 74-point win.

Back in Victoria, Neale Daniher was cheering on his beloved Demons from home.

A picture of the former coach beaming was shared on social media after the famous win.

Dogs fans were less enthused with the result, with Hollywood A-lister Chris Hemsworth sharing a picture of the Dees’ post-game celebrations with a straight face.

Hemsworth was in a Bulldogs jumper as he captured a selfie in front of the TV.

One lucky fan outside Optus Stadium managed to get a photo with West Coast great Ben Cousins.

The 2006 premiership player posed with Jess Marantelli as he headed out of the grand final on Saturday night.

Perth pubs and bars are in for a busy night, as punters soak up the historic, once-in-a-lifetime Perth grand final.

The Camfield, outside Optus Stadium, was the first stop for most punters but many flocked to Perth city and Northbridge after the final siren.
