Anthony Albanese drops F-bomb in awkward escalator incident at Labor’s National Conference in Adelaide

Anthony Albanese has been caught in an awkward on-camera moment after an escalator came to an abrupt stop at Labor’s National Conference in Adelaide.

Before taking to the stage to address more than 2000 people, the Prime Minister was riding an escalator at the Adelaide convention centre when it stopped and jolted him.

Albanese could be seen saying “for f..k sake” before turning around to see what had happened and walking down the escalator steps.

His blow up, captured by Seven cameras, was witnessed by media, Labor members and security.

It comes after the PM was caught grumpily telling a driver off in his parliament court yard during a recent international visit.

The Prime Minister used his appearance at the 2026 conference to spruik Labor’s laundry list of social and economic policies to improve Australians’ lives, work and study while tearing down the Liberals, Nationals and One Nation.

He said the other parties were focused on cutting support for Australians and leaning into “attention-seeking culture wars imported from overseas”.

“None of them have anything new or anything positive to offer our country,” he said.

“This has always been the fundamental contrast between Labor and all our political opponents, and never more so than now.

“Beyond One Nation’s personality clashes, policy confusion, conspiracy theories, and candidate chaos, and regardless of who leads the Liberals to the next election, in every way that matters, the Liberals, Nationals, and One Nation are already a coalition.”

Thursday’s tumble is not the first time the Australian Prime Minister has fallen at an event, however.

After delivering a speech at the NSW Mining and Energy Union Conference in April 2025, Albanese was seen losing his footing and falling off the stage.

The moment, which occurred during Labor’s election campaign, spurred gasps from the audience.

Two individuals were seen helping the Prime Minister back onto his feet.

The Labor leader later defended himself, saying at The West Australian’s Leadership Matters event just weeks after the fall that he “stepped off the stage” and “stumbled” instead of falling.
