An unmanned SpaceX Dragon capsule has splashed down off the coast of Florida after completing a resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

The Dragon, loaded with scientific equipment and blood samples provided by the ISS crew, undocked from the orbiting outpost on Sunday morning.

The crew, made up of US astronauts Kayla Barron and Thomas Marshburn and German astronaut Matthias Maurer, sent the blood samples to be used as part of medical examinations into the effects of long-term space travel on people's eyesight.

The Dragon capsule was originally due to depart for earth on Friday but NASA postponed the manoeuvre to Monday due to bad weather in Florida.

The Falcon 9 rocket brought hardware, research material and supplies for the crew to the ISS.
