Perth locals should be dusting off their rain jackets as thunderstorms are tipped to hit the city ahead of next week’s wave of showers.
As winter creeps closer, Perth will see a rev up in wet weather starting this week, after the Bureau of Meteorology forecast tipped a storm front passing over the city on Thursday, which has enjoyed otherwise clear skies.
The Bureau’s senior meteorologist, Illana Cherny, said locals should brace for an afternoon storm, but not a smashing.
“(There is) a cold front passing through the south west land division tomorrow during Thursday and that’s going to bring a chance of thunderstorms . . . in the afternoon,” she said.
“At this stage looking more like showers and a run of of the mill storm, not looking like we’re going to see particularly heavy rainfall.”

Thankfully for the keen runners tackling the HBF Run for a Reason on Sunday, skies will clear up for the weekend.
“After tomorrow, looking at the forecast, looking like we return to dry conditions, a little bit cooler in wake of that front,” Ms Cherny said.
“So Friday mostly sunny 19C, Saturday 19C as well and Sunday 22C.”
Although the dry spell will only be short lived, with rain tipped to pour down as the week turns on Monday.
