Perth is shivering through the coldest morning of the year and one of the chilliest in three years.

Jandakot registered a near-freezing 0.5C early on Thursday while Dwellingup and Gingin recorded 0.7C.

Perth Airport wasn’t much warmer with 1.5C, nor was Middle Swan with its 2.2C.

People in the city woke to a particularly nippy morning of just 3C at 7.10am, even chillier than Wednesday’s 3.4C.

The city has had its coldest June morning this week in three years. The last time it was colder in the Perth metro area was June 27, 2023, when 0.7C was recorded.

Last June, the lowest Perth temperature was 3.7C, and in 2024, it was 4.5C.

Pearce, in Bullsbrook, was also brisk Thursday morning, recording just 3.3C, and Bickley, in the east, wasn’t much warmer at 4.7C.

A top of 17C is forecast for the city Thursday, only a few degrees warmer than the lowest daily maximum temperatures for June so far in 2026.

The lowest maximum was Tuesday’s 15C.
