Perth and WA weather: Heatwave warning for parts of Gascoyne as mercury set to climb in metro area this week

Parts of WA are set to swelter through an unrelenting heatwave this week.
People in the Gascoyne are urged to brace for scorching heat, with temperatures tipped to reach mid-forties as of Tuesday.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a heatwave warning at 1.03pm on Monday, outlining the conditions to come for the north-western pocket.
“Maximum temperatures ranging from the high thirties to the high forties. Overnight minimum temperatures ranging from the mid to high twenties,” The warning reads.
The heatwave is predicted to continue into next week.
“Severe heatwave conditions over the western Gascoyne are expected to persist through most of the week and potentially into next weekend,” the advice continued.
The worst of the heat will be felt on Tuesday with a top of 45C in store for Gascoyne Junction. Maximums of 43C are forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, with a slight dip on Friday and Saturday before an uptick to 43C on Sunday.

The blistering conditions will trickle down to the Perth metro area, where temperatures are expected to reach near 40C in the latter half of the week.
The city’s run of cooler days will come to an end on Tuesday, with 34C forecast as the maximum temperature.
Perth will continue to turn up the heat on Wednesday and Thursday, with the mercury tipped to reach the mid-thirties, before the worst hits on Friday with a top of 38C.
Relief is in store on Saturday as the mercury starts to drop and will continue to cool off on Sunday and Monday.
