Serious crash leaves two people in critical condition in Perth hills

A man and woman are in a critical condition in hospital after their car smashed into a power pole in the Perth Hills this morning.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Welshpool Road near Melaleuca Road in Lesmurdie just before 11.30am.

The driver and passenger, both aged in their 30s, were rushed to Royal Perth Hospital.

It is unclear who was driving at the time.

The driver’s side of the car is dented, with the passenger side completely totalled.

No other injuries have been reported.

Traffic is banked up in the area, with Welshpool Road eastbound closed between Crystal Brook Road and Tonkin Highway.

Motorists are being told to avoid the area and expect delays.

Police are on site directing traffic.
